Success Story: Leadership Brandon – Building Leaders Through Connection

Client: Brandon Chamber of Commerce
Project: Leadership Brandon – A Cohort-Based Leadership Development Program
Â
Overview
The Brandon Chamber of Commerce launched Leadership Brandon, a program designed to cultivate leadership and networking skills through a cohort-based model. It’s a monthly program that connects emerging leaders with influential figures across the business, political, and non-profit sectors. Mosaic Engagement was brought in to facilitate the program's inaugural year and ensure an engaging, interactive, and impactful experience for participants.
Â
The Challenge
With a diverse group of participants coming together for the first time, Leadership Brandon needed a strong foundation—a way to create alignment, foster trust, and define shared values from the start. The Chamber also wanted to avoid passive, lecture-style sessions and instead emphasize hands-on learning and meaningful conversations (our favourite!).
Our Approach
For the cohort’s first meeting, Mosaic Engagement designed and facilitated a full-day interactive session to kick off the program. The session focused on:
âś… Team Charter Development: The cohort collaboratively defined a vision, core values, and expected behaviours.
âś… Problem-Solving Framework: Participants identified potential challenges and co-created strategies to uphold their values.
âś… Engagement & Networking: Icebreaker activities and group discussions built connections among participants.
The cohort meets at different locations across Brandon and the greater Westman area each month, engaging with key community leaders. Mosaic Engagement continues to facilitate these sessions, ensuring they remain dynamic, interactive, and relevant. Notable sessions have included:
Meetings with Political Leaders: Discussions with the Mayor, City Manager, MLAs, and regional representatives.
Industry Insights: Visits with non-profits, post-secondary institutions, and businesses to explore leadership across sectors.
Downtown Revitalization Focus: Conversations with Downtown BIZ, city staff, and social service organizations.
Manitoba Chamber of Commerce AGM Attendance: A firsthand look at regional business leadership in action.
Â
Results & Impact
- Stronger Leadership Foundations: The cohort has built a clear, shared vision and deeper understanding of leadership dynamics.
- Expanded Networks: Participants have engaged with professionals they wouldn’t typically have access to.
- Interactive & Engaging Learning: The program avoids passive learning, using hands-on activities and discussions to maximize impact—making it a program participants enjoy being part of.
- Ongoing Growth & Relationships: As an ongoing program, Mosaic Engagement continues to refine and enhance the experience.Â

Conclusion
Leadership Brandon is more than just a leadership program—it’s a community-building initiative that connects, educates, and empowers emerging leaders. By designing a program that prioritizes community engagement and hands-on learning, Mosaic Engagement has helped create a truly transformative experience for participants.
