Leadership Development

Whether you’re looking to round out your leadership skills or help develop your team’s skills where there may be gaps, you and your organization can greatly benefit from strategic leadership development.

Recommended Leadership Development Topics

  1. Effective Professional Communication | Different situations call for different styles of communication. Identify preferred communication styles in others, recognize when it’s beneficial to use alternative styles and learn how to overcome limiting communication habits, communicate confidently, and communicate professionally through email and social media.

  2. Conflict Management | What’s the best way to resolve a conflict? What conflict management styles feel the most comfortable, and which should you use when? Walk through example situations of conflicts and how to best resolve them.

  3. Creating a Values-Based Day | Throughout your day, some tasks build up your energy, and some expel your energy. Look at your average day, week or season and optimize your workflow into natural peaks and valleys to maximize your time.

  4. Values-Based Leadership | How closely aligned are your values and the values of your workplace? If they’re already perfectly aligned, then maximize that alignment to boost your energy levels and productivity. Or, if the values conflict, explore what actions can be taken to bridge the gap.

  5. Virtual Facilitation | In this day and age, virtual communication is vital. Explore strategies to build flow in online meetings to ensure your team achieves meeting outcomes.

How to Identify What Sessions You Need

Engage your staff to help identify gaps within your team. Leaders often assume what their team needs for professional development, but why not include them? Investing time in a staff audit will maximize your ROI. Here are a few steps to ensure your team gets the most out of these sessions.

  1. Meet With Human Resources | What’s the gold standard? What are the optimal skills for your staff based on their job description? This conversation will help you identify professional development priorities.

  2. Send A Survey | Ask your team to fill out a self-assessment. For example, on a scale of one to five, how proficient do you feel in Zoom? How comfortable are you sharing ideas in meetings? This will help identify your staff’s feelings on their skills.

  3. Report Your Confidential Findings Back to HR | Once you have your report from your team, meet with HR to look for themes, definite gaps, and where your team is excelling.

  4. Put Together A Plan | Based on your report from staff and their job descriptions, work with HR to put together a professional development action plan. This could include custom learning plans for each individual, team, department, or organization.
